PG 2.5 Archives - Foot Fire

Nike are proving that December is the month of giving as earlier this month we saw the release of the “Wolf Grey” colourway and now, on boxing day, the Nike PG 2.5 Playstation “Royal” is releasing.

This year we’ve seen the Nike PG2 PlayStation, PG 2.5 Playstation Wolf Grey and the upcoming PG 2.5 Royal will be the 3rd Sony inspired release between Nike, Paul George and Playstation making it the most replicated basketball footwear collaboration.

True to the theme, the Royal iteration features an all over controller button inspired print with a prominent royal blue colour scheme. The galaxy resembling paint-splattered midsole and starry custom insoles along with PG and PlayStation logo’s – on the right and left tongues, respectively make this PG 2.5 colourway a must for your on court rotation.

Following the success of the PG2 x PlayStation back in February Nike Basketball, Playstation & Paul George have teamed up once again to bring us the PG 2.5 x PlayStation Colorway.

“This time around, I wanted to take the design old school, back to my earliest days of gaming. For me – as I’m sure many of you can relate – those memories date back to the original PlayStation.” mentioned by Paul George.

Reminiscent of the iconic games console, cool grey dresses the entire shoe off set by blue, green, red and yellow, PS1 button colours, on the swooshes. In similar fashion to original PG2 x PlayStation collaboration the PlayStation symbols are embossed on the patent leather heels of each shoe. Finishing touches include both Paul Georges logo and the original 4 colour PlayStation logo on the tongue that light up.

Paul George love for gaming is no secret, demonstrated with the release of the PG 2 Playstation. During 2018’s E3 Paul George debuted the Nike PG 2.5 a new silhouette in the PG range serving as a teaser before the launch of the PG 3.

Combining elements from his 1st and 2nd signature shoe the most noticeable feature is the return of the mid foot strap.

“We wanted to refresh the silhouette and keep evolving it,” designer Tony Hardman said. “Paul wanted to put the strap from the PG1 on it, and this allowed us us to approach the element in a different way. Instead of incorporating Flywire as we did on the original, we conceived a new strap for the PG 2.5 built from a new webbing.”

The Nike PG 2.5 are now on sale for £67
